When I started this publication, I was honestly a little lost. I was a new mom in a new city with a new perspective on entrepreneurship and a renewed sense of purpose. I also learned that no, I wasn’t just a weird alien that didn’t belong, I have ADHD and C-PTSD… one part nature another part nuture. My childhood was very unusual yet very ordinary at the same time. My success was partly luck, partly smarts, partly skill, but mostly survival.
Now, I’ve finally built a stable foundation for myself and am ready to give back the wisdom, lessons, and insights I’ve learned over the years as I build Divergently. So my question is… what do you want me to share?
My founder’s experience? Parenting? Preventing burnout when you’re a parent and/or have a disability or health challenges? Tools and strategies for building a startup? What’s bogus and what’s real when it comes to business advice?
Thanks for reading and responding! These are all really great questions! The diagnostic ones we go deep on over at Divergently, but I'll happily share my perspectives here too. And how does mental health affect my ability to build? I'll be on a panel discussing that at Venture Atlanta if you'll be there! And yes, very good observation that sometimes challenges are just 'normal' life challenges and other times they're caused by or worsened by poor mental health. Will share more!
Some things I'm interested to know more about:
- When do you go from self-help to pursuing an actual diagnosis?
- What happens on the other side of being diagnosed? How does that process help answer some questions while opening others?
- How to does mental health + neuro state affect your ability to build, to go 'founder mode' etc.?
- What does it look like when mental health interferes with life vs. just 'going thru a tough time' because of a given season or situation?
